My Daughter is Headed to the Olympics!

No, not as an athlete. But she will be covering it for her university paper, The Western Front! She's only about 25 miles from the border and was up at the Peace Arch in Blaine earlier this week to see the Olympic Torch carried though the Peach Arch into Washington and then back into Canada. This is the photo she shot, shown above, which appears in the online paper. I had to scan the one up top, so it's not good quality. Her color version shown in the paper can be found here:

She'll be in Vancouver tomorrow and back and forth throughout the Olympics to photograph and cover various aspects of the events. What an exciting time for her!

I'm still waiting to receive my official enhanced driver's license in the mail. You don't need a passport to cross the Canadian border if you have this license. I'm keeping my fingers crossed it will get here on Tuesday. Our schools are on midwinter break all next week, and my friend and I are hoping to get up there while the kids are out!

Woohoo! I'm so excited! I just love the Olympics!
GO USA!!

  3. That is so awesome for you both. Hope you get to go and enjoy the events. I wanted to go when it was in Salt Lake City but my hubby does not deal well with crowds and traffic! So we watched it all from our warm livingroom like we will this time. Just love the Olympics.
    Have fun!
