Where THIS Country Folk Creates!

Well, I'm a day late getting this posted, but I guess it's better late than never! We're having a blog party...."Where Country Folk Create". Figured I'm definitely a "country" folk, but I love to create "primitive and rustic" creations. Above is where most of my creations are put together. But this is only one step in the process. I have many areas in my home dedicated to my sewing and crafting needs. It all starts on my kitchen table where I will trace my items for sewing. Usually Harley is there to supervise my work.

From there it's on to the sewing area. I like to sew downstairs, so I've designated an area in what ordinarily would be my dining room for my sewing machine. This is also where I keep my paints, as well as my shipping area. Here I have my scale for weighing my boxes and my printer for printing out my postage and packing slips.

Once my items are sewn, they go around the corner to my little area of the family room. I have stuffed thousands of ornies in this chair, often with my computer in my lap and often until the wee hours of the morning. And sometimes with Harley sound asleep in my lap!

Once I get my ornies stuffed it's on to the staining and painting area. I have designated this counter top in my kitchen for this task. I bring my tray of paints in from my sewing area, my cookie sheets and my staining mix and "set up shop". From there it's on to my oven, unless we have a hot summer day, but those are few and far in between out here!

And then, once my ornies are baked and completely dry, they head upstairs where I will choose the perfect container to make my gatherings. By the looks of these shelves, I have many to choose from!!

Or, I may choose a bobbin, an old rusty bed spring or other item for a make-do or nodder. I also put together my different wall hangings here. This is a very long room and it also has a bed and a long dresser on this side of the bed. Even though you can't tell by the pic, there is a good amount of room between the bed and my work area. The bed is often covered with different fabrics and quilt tops for me to choose from. Many of those are stacked on the table and in the little cubby to the right. And there is a long, double closet on the other end of the room that has nothing but shelves filled with bins of supplies and more stacks of quilt top fabrics.

Once my item is completed it's on to take the pictures. This is outside the door in a little corner of the hallway. Harley is such a ham. He thinks he needs to be in every photo I take!

I would love for this room to be dedicated totally to my sewing and crafting needs, but it's our "extra" bedroom and it use to be my daughter's room. So I need a place for her to sleep when she comes home. And soon I will be adding a taut cable across the ceiling so I can hang a curtain between the back area and the "bedroom" area, as this room will also serve as a guest room when family and friends come to visit.

Hope you have enjoyed a tour of where I create! Take a look at those packed shelves up there....see anything that may have YOUR name on it! :) Thanks for dropping by today! Click here to go and visit other country folk to see where THEY create! ~~Annie
