A Mother's Day Fit For A Queen!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and a happy Mother's Day!  I'll have to say, this was one of the best mother's day I've had!  It would have been PERFECT if only my daughter had been here.  But she called and we chatted for a good bit.  And she was quick to inform me that she would be home in exactly one month from the day!  We're both counting the days!

Well, my weekend got off to a fantastic start on Saturday when I went to the mailbox!  There was a package addressed to little ole me and I knew exactly what is was!

I won this adorable bunny wall hanging painted by Barb of Barb's Heartstrokes in her recent giveaway.  This fellow is so darn cute!  And since it IS still spring I decided to hang him downstairs for a while.  I won't be able to put him away, though.  I'll keep him hanging in my craft room upstairs until next Easter!  I have a couple of Barb's framed paintings.  I just adore her paintings and admire her talent!  I've even gave one of her pieces to a friend of mine.  In fact, last Christmas I bought this adorable piece to give to my friend (since she LOVED the Halloween piece I'd given her).
Anyway, Barb packages them so nicely, wrapping them in pretty paper.  If I'd only kept it wrapped!  But noooo, I had to open it to take a peak.  Well, after I did it was all she wrote.  Let's just say I had to find ANOTHER gift to give to my friend.  That snowman is MINE!  It's a good thing my friend isn't a blogger.  If she read this she would definitely be giving me a hard time.  Guess I'm just gonna have to get her her own snowman.  So I'll be visiting Barb's shop soon.  I hope you will to!  Check out her wonderful Etsy shop here!

Well, Sunday was certainly a special day!  To begin with we had an absolutely gorgeous day...not a cloud in the sky, a light breeze in the mid 70s.  When I came downstairs I was handed a cup of coffee and several bags to open.  And then I was handed the morning paper and escorted out to the deck...where THIS was waiting for me!

They decided to fix me breakfast on my hubby's new grill and have breakfast out on the deck.  Justin was in charge of the bacon, eggs and grits.

This kid is absolutely the sweetest son a mom could ask for!  Never has a harsh word to say, does excellent in school, teachers adore him, does everything you ask him to do...AND WITHOUT COMPLAINING!  I don't know how I got so lucky with this one!  And he's a pretty good cook, to boot!

Sean was helping hubby inside and was in charge of setting the table!

Sean, waiting for breakfast while Justin slaves away at the grill.  That's okay, Justin...Sean is scheduled for clean up duty!

And hubby made strawberry waffles!

So while I waited, I decided to take a few pictures of this beautiful day!  Some sights of the morning...

My window box is coming along nicely.  Hopefully by the time Katie comes home blooms will be spilling out over it!

Katie's already informed me she wants a cookout the first night she's home.  She also wants to roast marshmallows for S'mores!  Guess will get the chiminea fired up!

No birdies out this morning.  I think Harley scared them away.  :(

One of the many beds I need to weed!  Ugh!

Of course Harley had to join in on the celebrations!

It was a wonderful morning eating out on the deck.  This is the guy who spear headed my special day...my sweet hubby!  And he wasn't done.  He barbecued a delicious dinner that night!

When it was all done they even cleaned everything up...while I sat under the maple tree!  Ahhh....the life!  It's too bad Mother's Day only comes ONCE a year!

  6. Sounds like you had a great MD and I am still up North dragging mine out. 3 days with Nellie and now a week with Scott and will get to see another son and a few Grandkids before I go home. I can see why you are counting the days waiting for your Daughter...I did the same thing waiting to come down. I will try and blog about my trip when I get home next week.
